On October 30, 2025, a group of eighteen students from Grades 9 to 12, accompanied by two teachers, Mr. Le Bitter and Miss Gnanou, on an exciting journey to Mumbai to participate in a Model United Nations (MUN) conference — an opportunity to explore new horizons of academic excellence. The group was accommodated at the Château Windsor Hotel, Mumbai, for a four-day stay.
The MUN conference proved to be a truly enriching experience for all participants. It provided the students with valuable opportunities to enhance their communication, research, critical analysis, negotiation, conflict-resolution, writing, and oratory skills, as well as to develop teamwork, self-confidence, and autonomy.
The students shared that the debates pushed them to test their limits while they also enjoyed a pleasant and memorable stay in Mumbai. Many first-time participants were particularly impressed by the high standards of the conference. The event broadened their perspectives on global affairs and the workings of international forums such as the United Nations.
Through the roles they played as delegates representing different countries, students gained firsthand experience in debating world issues and understanding diplomatic processes. Below are some thoughts and opinions of the students about the conference.
- “It was, overall, a very enriching experience where I learned more about diplomacy and discovered various debate techniques, as well as how committees function in real life. The conference itself was very well organized.”
- “I find that most of the preparation for moderate caucus and unmoderate caucus is to be done in the moment using information and quoting other delegate’s words to defend your delegation’s stance”.
- “I had a great experience at MUN this year, all thanks to the guidance of Mr. Le Bitter and Miss Gnanou, who helped and guided us, from writing our position papers and opening speeches, helping us with research to the sessions conducted on the procedure. We couldn’t have done it without them!”
- “I really liked this trip, the teachers were very kind and they planned out our trip very well. It was super organised and I learnt new things.”
Beyond the academic experience, the students also had the chance to explore Mumbai, visiting several of its iconic sites. Grateful for this opportunity, the group returned with enthusiasm and renewed motivation to perform even better in future conferences.
Some participants suggested establishing a MUN Club at school to allow for regular preparation and deeper commitment to upcoming MUN events. They expressed that having more time to prepare would better equip them to compete confidently with fellow delegates at future conferences.
